Partial Edit
$75 / £55
If you lack the budget for a full manuscript edit, or it’s simply not something you’re interested in because you’re planning to publish traditionally, a partial edit could be perfect for you! A lot of agents will ask for your first 10 pages when you query, and you only have one chance to make an impression. A partial edit involves a thorough assessment of exactly those pages, and I’ll help you make them shine so that agents get hooked and request to read more.
A partial edit includes:
Developmental, line and copy editing of your first 10 pages
Editorial letter with feedback on what works and what isn’t quite there yet
Note: Due to the short length of a partial edit, sample edits are not offered for this service
Developmental Editing
$0.008 / £0.0059 per word
Developmental editing is the first step of editing a book, looking at the bigger picture things like plot and characterization. I will provide in-depth feedback on the pacing, character arcs, tone and style, story structure, and more. A developmental edit isn’t just a list of things you should improve, I’m also going to tell you all the things you’ve done right and everything I love about the story!
Developmental editing includes:
Comments throughout your manuscript
10+ page editorial letter with a general summary on the overall story along with feedback and thoughts on every chapter and all the major characters
Line Editing
$0.009 / £0.0066 per word
When the overall story is solid, it’s time to get more granular! Line editing is all about making sure your book works on a sentence level. I’ll make sure the sentences flow and are expressed clearly, dialogue sounds natural, no words are used excessively or unnecessarily, and that all sentences contribute to the story. However, I will always strive to retain your voice and style - I’m just here to help you make it shine!
Developmental editing includes:
Detailed, line-level tracked changes throughout your manuscript, typically several on every page
Comments and suggestions on improvements
Brief overall assessment of the story and my thoughts about the book
Copy Editing
$0.01 / £0.0073 per word
Copy editing is the step between line edits and proofreading, and it is often described as a more detailed and thorough version of proofreading. I’ll look for misspellings, punctuation issues and grammatical mistakes, but also make sure that your writing is consistent, both sentence and story-wise. For example, I look at whether your chosen style of punctuation, abbreviation and spelling remains consistent throughout the book, as well as factual details about your characters, story and locations.
Copy editing includes:
Detailed, line-level tracked changes throughout your manuscript, typically several on every page
Comments and suggestions on improvements
Brief overall assessment of the story and my thoughts about the book
A style guide summarizing the style used and choices made

Still not sure what type of editing your book needs? That’s okay, I can help you figure it out! The manuscript evaluation service involves me reading as much of your book as I need to in order to make a recommendation on the type of editing I think it would benefit from most.
For a limited time only, this service is completely free, and it doesn’t come with any obligation to hire me afterwards. The world of editing is big and overwhelming, and I just want to help you make an informed choice on how to proceed with your book.
